One Last Night with Mary MacLane
Nora Bonner and James Cargill
19th century genius’s last gig before she meets the Devil.
At 48, MacLane (1881-1929) rocks out for a musical self-tribute, so that she might remain in public consciousness before the Devil comes to claim her. Ferocious, hilarious, Faustian, MacLane laments tragic relationship with her English teacher before testifying to her longstanding devotion to the Devil.

Based on current infection rates and active cases, Cincy Fringe plans to make masking encouraged, but optional in performance spaces for audiences for the 2023 Festival.
Please note that we will re-evaluate this policy if infection rates rise significantly before or during the Festival, in the interest of keeping the festival accessible to our most vulnerable artists, patrons, and staff.
Thank you for your understanding.
Nora Bonner and James Cargill met in 1998, when they were still in high school and appeared in the Michigan Opera Theater’s production of TURANDOT. She was in the children’s chorus, and he played a prince who guesses wrong and loses his head. Today, their band is called Mischief Spy Balloon. ONE LAST NIGHT… is their first theatrical collaboration.
