Maximizing Micro-Stories
and Minimizing Missed Opportunities
from Paul Strickland of 90 Lies an Hour
Everyone has a story, but how can you tell your story in a way that anyone will care? This workshop is a two-pronged approach to improving your skills in storytelling. In this workshop we:
1. Examine how interesting anecdotes can be combined for a story-worthy pay-off, and
2. Learn how to identify loose-ends and missed opportunities in your writing, both on the sentence-level and the story-level, and evolve those missed opportunities into moments that engage your audience by drawing them further into your message or making them laugh out loud.

Take the Power Back!
from Jamie Campbell of The Devil on the Wall or, That Time I Got Kidnapped
Jamie Campbell has learned first-hand how telling your own harrowing story can make an impact on both storyteller and audience. It took him over 25 years to tell the story of being kidnapped as an 11 year-old, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of his life. Moments of trauma, embarrassment, and vulnerability are the most difficult to tell, but are also have the greatest payoff. Take the Power Back is designed to help others tell stories they never thought they could in a way that affects everyone in the room. Students will workshop their stories in a judgment-free environment designed to help them relate their past in a way that impacts everyone in attendance.
